iPod Touch and iPhone remote control official

Apple's Remote app
Apple's Remote app – never leave the sofa again

iTunes updates don't usually get us psyched. But despite creating a whirlwind of hype, we can't ignore the new version of everyone's favourite music and movies repository.

Out now, the new edition offers the chance to turn your iPod Touch or iPhone 3G into a remote control. According to an official statement from Apple you can "...use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home - a free download from the App Store."

So the rumours were true. They're not calling it iRemote (praise be, the name sucks), but it will essentially do what we've always wanted.

Otherwise, the new software is simply a swanky upgrade to accommodate iPhone 3G hungry punters. Download it now before you start queuing for one. And be sure to check out our exclusive hands–on video and in–depth review if you're gagging for more iPhone 3G action.
